Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Tap the switch to enable Power saving mode
- Select a battery percentage at which the mode should turn on automatically
Enable Ultra Power Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings and scroll to System
- Tap Battery and enable Ultra power saving mode
- Tap Agree to confirm
- Additionally, you can tap + and add more apps to the Ultra power saving mode home screen
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display
- If necessary, disable automatic brightness
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value, like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Options:
NOTE: To improve battery life in the long run, you can disable connectivity features when they are not in use.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Connections
- Tap the switches associated with the connectivity options you want to turn off
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket and battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap More connection settings
- Access Mobile networks and tap Network mode
- Select GSM Only
Disable Background Data:
- Open Settings and scroll to Connections
- Tap Data usage > More
- Tap Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps can perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when not in use. To try and prolong battery life in the long run, you can disable or remove unused third party apps.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Applications
- Tap Application manager and swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable or Turn off
- To remove an app, tap Uninstall two times
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By decreasing the amount of data synced by your apps / accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select the desired account type and an account
- Clear and check the boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
- Tap Menu > Sync now
