Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Battery” under “System”
  4. Tap “power saving mode” to turn the option On
  5. To adjust the battery percentage at which the battery saver mode enables automatically, tap “Start power saving”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  4. Turn off “automatic brightness” if needed
  5. Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
  6. Return to “Display” and tap “Screen timeout”
  7. Select a lower timeout value

Turn Off Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections”
  3. Tap the connectivity options you want to disable
  4. To disable Hotspot, tap “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot” and set the switch to “OFF”

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you want to conserve energy until the next recharge, you can temporarily switch to 2G connectivity:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More connection settings” under “Connections”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Network mode” and select “GSM only”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps can perform regular background processes even when they are not actively in use, so by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Under “Device”, tap “Applications”
  4. Tap “Application manager” and access the “Downloaded” tab
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app
  7. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings on your device to sync less data, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  4. Select an account type and account
  5. Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to disable
  6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Disable Background Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and tap “Data usage”
  3. Tap “more” > “Restrict background data”
  4. Tap “OK” to confirm

Check for Firmware Updates:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep the phone up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “System”
  3. Tap “About device” and check if a new software version is available. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s) NOTE: this process will require at least one reboot
