It's such a new phone your best bet is probably a few google searches. I'll look around and post if I find anything interesting, but here's the first place I'm going to look: Google - Sanyo Katana tricks.

Yes, you can use is as a tethering modem.
No, you can't listen to MP3s on it.

    This should help:

two deal-breakers on the Katana for me. 1) it's difficult to flip the display open one-handed. 2) you are unable to customize the directional pad.

i have no idea about your actual question though. if you could get it to work, it is probably not a simple task.

I have a potential problem. I need to find a way to upload pictures from my Sanyo Katana to my computer without using data to email it. Does anybody know of a way to do that, via media downloader and cable, etc.

You need to get a data cable for the Katana, look HERE. I'm not sure about software for the Katana but you can probably find that with google, which is how I found the link to your data cable.

    Good luck!

You can read the pictures on the phone with BitPim, Datapilot and other software that can come with the USB cable. MY suggestion is to buy the software WITH the cable rather than trying to mix and match.
Also you CAN use the Katana as a modem but only if you subscribe to the Data plan from Sprint at $39.95 a month.

Rhin0dad (or anyone), have you tried BitPim or Datapilot with this phone over USB? In contrast, the Sprint user manual says that over FTP / Bluetooth, the only transfer direction allowed is PC to phone.

    Thanks.
