Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
In the upper left side of your screen, you should see a link that says "Update Your Phone Info". If not, then look in the same area and click User CP, then Edit Phone Info (which is 2 rows down on the left menu). Use the dropdown menus to change your phone info.
If you've already tried that, my apologies. I know that's how you set your phone info, initially.
As for DataPilot, glad to hear that it works. I am about to try it out for myself.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
Not sure if you have another phone with bluetooth...but I have the Katana DLX and BT'd the entire phonebook including assigned pictures to the Katana LX. Unfortunately, it will not move the assigned ringtones.
I've not tried assigning pictures in outlook and BT'ing from my PC but I can update the phonebook one .vcf at a time. Good Luck.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
DataPilot works with the phone book both ways and will download pictures from the Katana LX 3800 to the computer. None of the other functions of DataPilot are supported with the Katana LX 3800.
I am still looking for a program that will transfer ringtones from the computer to the phone. I have had no luck with this. Knowing what I know now I would not have ordered the Katana LX 3800 and extended my contract another two years. So many other choices of phones and or carriers that allow phone book manager, internet data connect, Outlook Calendar, image editor, ringtone composer, and SMS manager of DataPilot or other programs using the USB connection. Many of those phones come with the USB cable and drivers.
I like the Katana LX 3800 but not the limitations Sprint has placed on the phone. Should have made a different choice this time and left Sprint after 8 years. There are better options out there.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
I hear that.
But I personally prefer Sanyo phones so heavily over the others, that I stay with Sprint even knowing these things.
I do hate how Sprint limits everything their phones can do.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
Datapilot shows that support for the 3800 is not available if you bought the phone from Bell Mobility (Canada). Is there really difference between the Sprint and Bell Mobility phones? They're both SCP 3800 models... would hate to buy Datapilot only to find out it really doesn't work on mine.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
...not that I downloaded DataPilot, because I would never be a part of today's disgusting pirate culture, but a little bird told me that even if you download DataPilot, it is useless with the SCP 3800 because it is not included unless you download the DataPilot updates from DataPilot.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
It did not work with my Katana LX until I downloaded the updates. Then the phone book and download of pictures worked just fine.
I bought the CD and cable from DataPilot. I got the Motorola Kit, Cell Phone Data Transfer Suite after talking to Tech Support at DataPilot. They told me that the Katana LX Sp-3800 used the Motorola Mini USB and this kit was what I needed.Last edited by 1950td; 11-23-2008 at 09:58 AM. Reason: Kit info added.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
Hey, I have the Katana II, but the data cable is the same for all three Katana phones. The company that sells the primary data link cable is Mobile Action.
You can get the drivers starting out at their homepage, mobileaction.com; it's all free.
Hope this helps

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
Hello -
I was able to use rumkin to send myself an MP3 file in a text message. I went to the message and downloaded it but it tells me that a handler is needed. I also have no clue where it put that MP3 file after the download.
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
OK- hope I've tried to read all the posts on the data transfer issues before posting. Need the software update and cable to retrieve my contacts on on PC to reload my new Katana LX.
Background: Had Future Dial Suite for an earlier sanyo phone, but then had to move up to Mobile Action to gain support for my first generation Katana SCP6600,
NOW it appears from all the posts, it is confirmed Mobile Action does not support the newer LX even for merely contact management ( all I want) .
My old SCP6600 totally died and Sprint ( tried three service centers) says cannot transfer to new phone for me if the origanal phone is 'dead".
Before i call Future Dial for support, did not a post here reference another make of phone cable would work on the Sanyo LX SCP3800?
My latest contacts had been maintained on my PC using Future Dial so that is why i think i'll need to stick with their software- all i want is to grab out my contacts. thanks

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
I had so mnay contacts in my phone, I decided I neede o be able to save them to my PC. Spent the money for datapilot. After installing, and reinstalling several time, I cannot get the software to work. It seems to have some problem with loading the DB file. After many calls, and e-mails to Susteen. It still is not working. Ther final answer? Try installing on another PC. I would, but I only have this one. The cable would not even charge the phone. I tried this months ago. I WAS able to get a call history off of my phone with Bitpim, in April, but now, Bitpim does not see it at all, al though it does see the cable I purchased. The other odd thing is, I was chagrined to find that my phone would not charge from the cable. Strangely, this morning, I tried to see if I might be able to get this to work, at least it now will charge the phone from the USB cable. Make it a little convienent, as I usually have my AC charger in my car, plugged into an inverter. Sprint obviously doesn't care if you can back up your data, as they want you to use their online backup service.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?
I had no luck with my usb cable, but bluetooth works to some degree.
When I use Blue Soleil software with my Katana LX it comes up with BenQ Siemens S-57 for mfg. and mdl.
So far all I've been able to do is download my contacts list. I'm wondering if anyone else might come up with added functions we can tweak out of this.

Re: Katana LX (3800) usb driver?update
In my case in my attempt to only to grab my existing contacts off my PC - I ended up getting the Data Pilot software and cable - after a few tries i got it to recognize the Katana LX. As previous post noted - Data Pilot cross referenced a motorola mini plug cable to work with the LX. _ well i got it to work but unfortunately i couldn't grab out my existing contact list from Future dial - supose if i was savvy i would have know. So? ended up manually punching in all my contacts from my print out ( at least via the PC keyboard) - deleting a bunch and saving 150+ . Ddidn't even know i still had names and numbers from days gone past. now trying to figure out how to save numbers in speeddial whne i go to update othe parts of the list when i import new numbers into my exisiting phone bank.
