Enabling STAMINA and Low Battery Mode:
- From the home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
- Tap "Settings"
- Under "Device", tap "Power management"
- Press the switches next to "STAMINA mode" and "Low battery mode" and set them to "ON"
Customizing how Battery Saving Mode Works:
- Tap the "Applications" icon while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Under "Device", tap "Power management"
- Perform one of the following:
- To edit STAMINA mode:
- Tap "STAMINA mode"
- Tap the switch and set it to "ON"
- Tap "Activation"
- Drag the "Battery level" slider to adjust the battery percentage at which STAMINA mode enables itself
- Tap "OK"
- Optionally, add or remove applications under "Apps Active in Standby"
- To edit Low Battery Mode:
- Tap "Low battery mode"
- Tap the switch associated with the feature, and set it to "On"
- Edit the settings for "Screen brightness" and "Screen timeout" as seen fit
- Mark or clear the check boxes next to "Bluetooth off", "Auto-sync off" etc, to determine whether or not these features are disabled during Low Battery Mode
- To edit STAMINA mode:
Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Tap the "Applications" icon while viewing a home screen
- Open "Settings"
- Under "Device", tap "Display" > "Brightness"
- Clear the check box next to "Adapt to lighting conditions"
- Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left and tap "OK"
- Tap "Sleep" > "15 seconds"
Disabling Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and Wi-Fi Hotspot:
It's highly recommended that you disable all connectivity features when they're not in use. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS can have a great impact on your phone's battery life, if enabled when not really in use.
- While on a home screen, swipe the "Notification" bar down
- Tap the "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" (GPS) icons to disable these features
- Tap the "Settings" icon located in the top-right corner
- Swipe to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "More"
- Touch "Tethering and Mobile HotSpot"
- Clear the check box next to "Mobile HotSpot"
Reducing App Auto-Sync Settings:
- Tap the "Apps" icon from the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Select the account that you wish to edit, under "Accounts"
- Select the account name if necessary
- Clear the check boxes associated with the various options, to reduce automatic sync
Disabling Background Data:
- Launch the "Settings" menu
- Tap "Data usage" under "Wireless & Networks"
- Tap the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner of the screen
- Mark the check box next to "Restrict background data"
Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:
- Tap the "Applications" icon from the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Under "Device", tap "Apps"
- Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
- Select the desired app and tap "Disable", or "Uninstall" if you wish to completely remove the app
- Tap "OK"
Switching from 4G to WCDMA:
- Access the phone's "Settings" menu
- Tap "More" under "wireless & networks"
- Tap "Mobile networks" > "Network mode" > "WCDMA"
Applying the Most Recent Firmware Available:
NOTE: This trick gives results only if Sony has released a new software update that includes improvements to your phone's battery life. Otherwise, following the steps below will have no effect on your phone's battery performance.
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Tap "About phone" under "System"
- Tap "Software update" and follow the on-screen prompts if an update is available
