Enabling and Managing Battery Saving Mode and STAMINA:

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Device", tap "Power management"
  4. Tap the switch associated with "STAMINA mode" and set it to "ON"
  5. Turn the "Low Battery mode" switch to "ON"
  6. Optionally, perform the following:
    • To edit STAMINA mode:
      1. Tap "STAMINA mode"
      2. Make sure the feature is enabled
      3. Tap "Activation" and drag the "Battery level" slider to the desired level. (NOTE: the percentage represents the battery level at which STAMINA mode becomes active
      4. Tap "OK"
      5. Optionally, add or remove applications from the "Apps Active in Standby" list
    • To edit Low Battery mode:
      1. Tap "Low battery mode" and ensure the feature is turned on
      2. Edit the "Screen brightness" and "Screen timeout" settings
      3. Mark or clear check boxes associated with "Wi-Fi off", "Vibrate on touch off" etc.

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Device", tap "Display"
  4. Tap "Brightness"
  5. Clear the "Adapt to lighting conditions" check box
  6. Drag the "Brightness" slider to a lower but comfortable level and tap "OK"
  7. Tap "Sleep" > "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: It's recommended that you disable all connectivity features on your device whenever they are not in use. This will help to maximize your phone's battery life, as features such as GPS and Bluetooth are very power hungry.

  1. While on the home screen, swipe the "Notification" bar down
  2. Tap the "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" (GPS) icons to disable the features
  3. From the upper-right corner, tap "Settings"
  4. Tap "More" under "Wireless & Networks"
  5. Tap "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot"
  6. Clear the "Mobile Hotspot" check box to disable the feature

Adjusting App Auto-Sync:

  1. Tap the "Applications" icon from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Under "Accounts", select the account that you want to edit sync settings to
  4. Select your account name if necessary
  5. Clear the check boxes next to the desired sync options to reduce auto-sync

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Tap the "Applications" icon from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "Data usage"
  4. Press the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner
  5. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use Of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: even though you might not use a certain app, having too many third party apps run services in the background can have a great impact on your phone's battery performance. As such, it's recommended that you disable or uninstall applications that you don't use.

  1. From the home screen, tap "Applications"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Device", tap "Apps"
  4. Swipe the screen to the "Downloaded" section
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap "Disable" to turn off the app. Alternatively, tap "Uninstall" to completely remove it
  7. Tap "OK"

Switching from 4G to WCDMA:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Scroll to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "More"
  3. Tap "Mobile networks" > "Network Mode"
  4. Select "WCDMA"

Updating to the Latest Software Version:

NOTE: following the steps below will have a positive effect on your battery life only if Sony has launched a new software update that increases battery performance or fixes potential power management bugs. If no update is available, following the steps below will have no effect on your battery.

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "System "and tap "About phone"
  4. Tap "Software update". If a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
