Back Up Apps:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Access "Settings" and swipe to "Personal"
  3. Tap "Backup & reset" and mark the check box associated with "Backup my data"
  4. Tap "Backup account" and select the backup account you wish to use. If you have to add a backup account, tap "Add account" and follow the on-screen steps

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open the apps drawer and tap "Backup & restore"
  2. Mark the "Contacts" check box. Optionally, you can select to also back up "Conversations" and the "Call log"
  3. Tap "Continue"
  4. After the backup file is created, tap "Finish"

Backing Up Media Files

Using Your Smartphone:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Swipe to and tap "File Commander"
  3. Tap "Pictures" or "Videos" and go to "Camera"
  4. Mark the check boxes associated with the files you wish to transfer
  5. Tap "Copy" and navigate to the File Commander's main screen
  6. Tap "SD Card" and navigate to the folder where you wish to back up the media files on the external storage
  7. Once there, tap the icon depicting a notepad & pen, then tap "Paste"

Using a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Sony Xperia E3 to your computer via USB
  2. In the AutoPlay window, select to browse the phone's directories
  3. Go to the phone's "Internal storage"
  4. Navigate to where the desired media files are stored on your smartphone
  5. Copy the files from your phone and navigate to the desired backup location on your computer's hard drive
  6. Paste the files to the target location
  7. Once the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
  8. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
  9. It is now safe to disconnect your smartphone from the PC
