Back Up Apps:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Access "Settings" and swipe to "Personal"
- Tap "Backup & reset" and mark the check box associated with "Backup my data"
- Tap "Backup account" and select the backup account you wish to use. If you have to add a backup account, tap "Add account" and follow the on-screen steps
Back Up Contacts:
- Open the apps drawer and tap "Backup & restore"
- Mark the "Contacts" check box. Optionally, you can select to also back up "Conversations" and the "Call log"
- Tap "Continue"
- After the backup file is created, tap "Finish"
Backing Up Media Files
Using Your Smartphone:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Swipe to and tap "File Commander"
- Tap "Pictures" or "Videos" and go to "Camera"
- Mark the check boxes associated with the files you wish to transfer
- Tap "Copy" and navigate to the File Commander's main screen
- Tap "SD Card" and navigate to the folder where you wish to back up the media files on the external storage
- Once there, tap the icon depicting a notepad & pen, then tap "Paste"
Using a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Sony Xperia E3 to your computer via USB
- In the AutoPlay window, select to browse the phone's directories
- Go to the phone's "Internal storage"
- Navigate to where the desired media files are stored on your smartphone
- Copy the files from your phone and navigate to the desired backup location on your computer's hard drive
- Paste the files to the target location
- Once the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
- Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
- It is now safe to disconnect your smartphone from the PC
