Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Swipe to Device and tap Power management
- Enable STAMINA mode
- Select a battery percentage at which STAMINA mode enables automatically and press OK
- You can add or remove apps from the list of Apps Active in Standby
- Tap the enable Low battery mode
- To further customize how low battery mode functions, you can tap Screen brightness / Screen timeout, and enable or disable features like Vibrate on touch, Wi-Fi etc
- Tap to enable Location-based Wi-Fi
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Notification bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location (GPS), and Bluetooth to disable these features
- Tap Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering and Mobile Hotspot and clear the Mobile Hotspot feature
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Under Device, tap Display
- Tap Brightness and clear the Adapt to light conditions option, if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left and tap OK
- Tap Sleep and choose a lower timeout value, like 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by setting your phone / accounts to sync less data.
- Open the Settings menu
- Under Accounts, select the account type you want to edit
- Select the desired account
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third party applications can affect your phones battery performance even when you dont use them assuming that the apps perform regular processes in the background. As such you might be able to improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Launch Settings
- Under Device, tap Apps
- Scroll to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Disable to turn off the app
- If desired, tap Uninstall > OK to remove the app
Turn Off Background Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap Data usage under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Menu
- Turn on Restrict background data
Use 2G Instead of 4G:
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select 2G
Keep the Firmware Up to Date:
NOTE: Certain software updates can improve battery life, so its recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to System and tap About phone
- Tap Software update
- Assuming that an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
