Back Up App Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data and settings to your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with your backup Google account

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts” and select an account type
  3. Select an account to use for contact syncing
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Sony device to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Use the File Explorer to locate the media files on the phone storage
  5. Transfer the media files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
  6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files form a Windows PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between your phone and computer
  2. Turn on “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC and locate the media file backups
  4. Transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
  5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB port
