Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Sony Xperia XZ to your computer via USB
  2. Turn on “Media Device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired audio files on the PC storage
  4. Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Ringtones” / “Alarms” / “Notifications” folders
  5. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Change the General Ringtone:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound & Notification”
  4. Tap “Phone ringtone”
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK”
  6. Optionally, you can choose to enable or disable “Also vibrate for calls”

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be assigned to contacts located on the phone’s internal memory or SIM card.

  1. Open “Contacts”
  2. Select the desired contact
  3. Tap “Edit”
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Set ringtone”
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK” for confirmation

Change the Notification Alert:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Sound & Notification”
  4. Tap “Default notification ringtone”
  5. Select the notification ringtone you want to use
  6. Tap “OK”
