Can i activate a lost phone?

My buddy lost his phone so he reported it lost. Couple weeks later he found it and is selling it to me. Can i still activate it on the same carrier but different account? Its on Sprint.

not true. It depends on the rep you get. they can remove it from the lost/stolen list. Just tell them that you called in before you bought it to check the ESN to make sure it was clear. Then when they tell you its lost or stolen, say, this is exactly why I called in first. They wont see any notes so just tell them you didn't give the other rep your account info, just the ESN to see if it was clean. 80% of the tie you can get it activated even if its on that list.
