I work in a basement, and I need to find a phone that works there.
I know that there are such phones, since some people can get reception with T-mobile. A friend of mine has an old LG G4015 that works there, with Cingular. I think that the carrier does not matter, both T-mobile and Cingular have the same kind of reception at the door of the building. When I put her sim in my phone, an unlocked Sony Ericsson k700i (which, by the way, I don't like), did not get anything underground. I also tried the Motorola V330 which did not do anything either, although I think is a nicer phone to use than the k700.
I would greatly appreciate some advice.

Nokia 6010 should do it.
As ugly as this phone is, it'll give you better signal than any $300 camera phone.

I have a Nokia 3220, which is decent (aside from the silly disco lights which you can disable) I get signal underground and in elevators.

Re: Advice on finding a phone with good reception
Yes both the Nokia 3220 and 6010 get superb signal...Even if the 6010 is a bit outdated it gets great standby life and even better signal. The 3220 is a great phone too it is sturdy (except) the lights and cover but the phone inside is built like a tank, i ran one over with an F150 and the screen was smashed but it still made and recived calles crystal clear...try doing that to a moto... But the Nokia non-flip phones such as mentioned above get way way better signal than any motorola and samsung but i place the samsung before the motorola for signal. But for some reason those two nokias get great signal, better than any other GSM phone I have used.
