In September when my two year contract with Verizon is up, I plan to switch to T-Mobile prepaid. I am trying to decide between two phone T-mobile offers, Nokia 6101 and the Samsung T319.

Any input on the pros and cons of these phones would be helpful. Thanks!

I have the T309 prepaid and it's been working out great. it's very similar to the T319. (actually I don't see the difference besides slight color differences.) just look up reviews for each phone and pick the one that best suits what you plan on using the phone for ie. texting, calander, addressbook etc.

I have the stupid Nokia 6010, I like the service though so i'm going to buy an unlocked Sony Ericsson and switch the SIM card over.

get an SE which supports 850Mhz and 1900Mhz, tmo prepaid has roaming for better coverage, but a lot of prepaid users still have 1900Mhz only phones. In fact, im gonna start using a mitsubishi G310 for fun, and im gonna wow my friends with its classicness

agreed, why limit yourself to what tmo is offering? You are better off going to that auction site, buy any unlocked gsm model with 850/1900 and you are good 2 go

I have a Samsung x495 which shares the same basic form as the t319 and a Nokia 6101. From a looks and feel perspective, I definitely prefer the Samsung however for customizing I prefer the 6101. With the Samsung you can use the numkeys to navigate their menus (I'm a fan of that); on the Nokia you're limited to the joypad to get around the menues. You can customize what apps you can immediately launch with the direction pad as well as the apps quicklist for the 6101; with the t319, you can't change it. The 6101 has the addition of IR and radio which T319 doesn't. The t319 accepts the standard cellphone headset jack but the 6101 you're limited to using headsets with Nokia's proprietary jack. I don't believe there's not much other difference for those two.

One important note on the 6101 is it seems the engineering wasn't that great and on a lot of models there wasn't enough clearance between the keys and the screen thus ending up with a scratched/broken screen after some use. As long as you don't slap the phone closed it shouldn't be a problem but do prepare to see some blemish on the screen soon after using a 6101.

edit: Bleh, I see I'm a bit late on the reply. Oh well, hope it serves some purpose to other readers.
