I'm thinking about getting this plan. I am going to buy a sim card from t-mobile and put it in my phone. Has anybody here had any experience with monthl 4g or the 30$ plan specifically? Are there any hidden fees or anything?

If I understand you correctly, you are planning to use an existing phone and get a new SIM card for this plan. I know T-Mobile only allows certain phones to use the $30/month plan. Are you sure your phone will be compatible?

I have had this $30/month plan for two weeks now. It's been working out for me just fine. I was only charged $30 as an initial fee and there were no hidden fees. But, I can't speak for my next phone bill. They still could tack on some hidden fees after the first month. I'll have to wait two more weeks to find out.

Just to follow up on this post... I got my second bill and it's still just $30. No hidden fees. I'm pretty surprised myself.

TheNewGuy, what phone are you using on the T-Mobile $30/month plan?

I've thought about getting the $30/month plan before, but 100 minutes isn't enough for me. I was going to try VoIP over the 4G network, but I don't think that would be reliable at this time.

It's nice, but it's a bit slow. Doesn't multi-task very well, and I need to wait about two seconds after waking it up to punch in my password. I am new to Android phones so I don't know if that is common. I hope it isn't.

You're right. It's not. I tried the same thing and (long story short) I ultimately upgraded to the $50/month plan.

I really want a device that can multitask. These phones are getting more and more powerful according to the specifications, but they still are a little slow. I just hit the button to turn on my screen and it took about two seconds for my screen to come on. Is that what you're referring to?

Well, I've been trying GrooveIP, and there is a delay when talking to someone in the same room, but then I called them again on cellular, and the same delay was there. So, I think it works fine when you're not right there. When you're in the same room the delay is more noticeable. There was also an echo, which was easily fixed after changing a setting.

I'm still not sure if I'd want to rely on it. With T-Mobile's $50 plan, the first 100 MB is at 4G speeds, unlike the $30 plan where 5 GB is at 4G speeds. That's a big difference. I think they should have let the $50 plan have 5 GB also.
