T-Mobile and Sprint, along with some other smaller providers are really taking advantage of the opportunity and pushing their unlimited data offerings. So, those who are upset with Verizon Wireless and AT&T have other options when it comes to unlimited data.

So is it official with T- Mobile? No more contracts? just pay a small down payment and then pay a monthly ? Do you think the other big carriers will follow suit or no?

It would be nice if the other carriers follow and do something similar.

People seem confused and excited about this T-Mobile no contract thing! It however is a simple bait and switch! There's no contract true but u pay full retail for the phone! You can do this on any carrier and not renew your contract! The only perk really is that they allow you to pay for phone over 2 years in installments with a smaller down payment.

It is more straightforward though. I thought it was more misleading to offer a "free" phone and charge high rates where they make up for the difference each month. Now they give you the lower rates and you just pay for the phone. I'm glad they changed it to the way it is now.

Does anybody know how the changes to T-Mobile will affect the process of purchasing phones from secondary sources like walmart?

My family and I would usually buy from walmart because we could get the phones for cheaper than at the actual T-Mobile store. The catch was that you have to buy it from them with a 2-year contract agreement but now that t-mobile doesn't have contracts (besides the phone purchase monthly payment) how does that change the walmart process?

I think they're still doing contracts at places such as Wal-Mart and other companies that sell T-Mobile online. I think their new plans are much better for the customer, but I guess the old plans are better for the other companies that sell T-Mobile because they probably get an up front commission with the two year contract.

If you want T-Mobile's new plans I would recommend purchasing through T-Mobile.

What phone are you looking to get?

I just moved over from Sprint to T-Mobile because of the no contract policy. One day in, and so far, so good! If I find that my coverage isn't any good, no problem -- I'll just cancel.

Let's hope you find the coverage to be decent.

Do you have access to their 4G network? How are the data speeds?

T-Mobile is really a great deal the more lines you add. So, if you know some people that you can split the bill with, it will really help. Definitely make sure the coverage is decent first people adding other people to your plan.

This is pretty confusing since they are actually keeping the prepaid plans as well. To make it further confusing they are basically still locking you in a contract if you want the phone at reduced rate. Very messy. Go for the regular prepaid plans.

I switched and couldn't be happier!! I kinda miss having AT&T's 4g LTE but even with being on TMo and having 4g and a great signal everything still runs super smooth and fast!

A smaller bill is a huge plus too!!!!!!
