This is a Email that i had sent to Telus customer Service/President
Audiovox 8900T as well as the LG
(applies to all the telus picture capable phones *DO NOT BUY)

IF YOU ARE WONDERING WHY THE USB CABLE YOU BOUGHT WILL NOT LET YOU DOWNLOAD THE PICTURES ONTO YOUR COMPUTER WITH YOUR TELUS AUDIOVOX CDM-8900T READ THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE... THIS IS FOR ***ALLL*** TELUS PHONES...
I TRIED IT WITH PC SYNC AND GOT IT CONNECTED AND EVERYTHING THEN FOUND OUT THAT TELUS'S SOFTWARE ON THE PHONE SPECIFICALLY BLOCKS THE PICTURE/MIDI FILE UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD EVEYTHING ELSE WORKS THROUGH THE USB I CAN DOWNLOAD AND SYNC MY PHONENOOK NO PROBLEM JUST THE PICTURES AND MIDI FILE IS SCREWED, TELUS **WILL NOT** CHANGE THE SOFTWARE ON YOUR PHONE WHICH IS WHAT IS NEEDED IN ORDER TO GET THOSE WORKING READ THE MESSAGE BELOW FOR THEIR REASONS WHY.... IF WE ALL STAND TOGETHER AND MASS EMAIL THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE/PRESIDENT LIKE I DID REQUESTING TO HAVE ACCESS TO ALL FUNCTIONS OF THE PHONES THAT WE THOUGHT WE HAD BOUGHT MAYBE THEY WILL ALLOW IT....

TAKE A STAND WITH ME PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL IF YOU WILL HELP IN MY CAUSE TO STOP THE MONOPOLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message: ok here is the deal... i bought my audiovox cdm8900 phone off of you guys, with a 1 year contract, thinking that i will be able to transfer my pictures through a usb link, i went on ebay and bought hooked it up started it up and to my dismay found out that telus had requested audiovox to make their specific software block out that type of connection therefore sustaining a monopoly and raking in the cash from people who need to upload their pictures to your website @ $0.25 a shot the usb cable also enables you to upload as many midi files as you want free of charge this was also blocked by telus... so at this point i was out $40 ... when i bought the phone i was not advised that you are unable to do this. Furthermore, on the audiovox website the stats for the telus specific model of the 8900 the cdm8900T it actually states that the phone is data capable and has the exact same statistics as the verizon version, but is unable to transfer the pictures, whereas the verizon ver allows you too. this in my minf is unacceptable, first it is fals advertisement. Secondly, if the phone that a person is buying is altered from the state that it was shipped in, us as the consumers deserve to know this, so now i am out $40 for my purchase and am stuck with a sub-par phone... please reply...

    Their REPLY:
    Thank you for your e.mail.

TELUS Mobility has opted to disallow the use of 3rd party applications due to the amount of hardware and software conflicts that have occurred in past experiences. This enables TELUS Mobility to ensure that our subscribers will receive what we advertise with quality assurances.

    My REPLY
WELL THEN IF YOU HAVE OPTED TO DISALLOW "3RD PARTY APPLICATIONS" THEN, WHY NOT SELL YOUR OWN TELUS USB CABLE LOL OR WILL THAT MESS WITH YOUR BUISNESS PLAN TO SCREW THE CONSUMER BY FORCING THEM TO PAY UP THE YIN-YANG FOR RING TONES/ PICTURES... YOU GUYS ARE FULLL OF ****

    Once again THEIR REPLY
    Hello Peter,

Thank you for your reply. I have checked further with our Data and Network Assistance Department and was advised that TELUS Mobility does offer a USB cable for hook up to the internet. This cable may be purchased at any of our TELUS Mobility Data Dealers. Currently TELUS Mobility does not support picture***** uploading to your computer through a USB cable

TELUS SUCKS DO NOT BUY A PHONE FROM THEM THEY ARE ONLY OUT THERE TO SCREW THE CONSUMER

Wow, you're really hostile. I don't think because of one bad experience that you had everyone should boycott Telus. It is the best service here in NL, and I am not giving it up because Ican't upload my pictures. IF you care that much about your pictures dont' buy a camera phone and buy a digital camera.

Verizon is also not allowing its users of camera phones to directly download photos. It is obivious that both these companies do not care about its users needs, and want to suck as much money out of us as possible. If these companies would supply what the consumer wants and needs, they might build customer loyality and continue to make money with happy customers and repeat business, but instead, they would rather take as much as possible in one contract period with hidden charges for this an that.
What ever became of the customer is always right. I guess we are right if we want to pay.

Telus castrates all of their phones like this. They also lock out the java uploader so you can't use your cable to put games on your phone either.

Switch to Rogers. They have better plans, better reception, better coverage, and way better, Fully Functional, phones!

i downloaded few pictures from my 8900 to a pc with brewsky 8900. but when i downloaded a ringtone to a phone, i could not get it to play (i could see it, but it wouldn't work) so i decided to delete it. i used security thing to delete all ringtones and then my phone just started to go off and on. i was saying "user data restore" or something like that. i sent it for repairs, and after 4 weeks, they gave me a new phone, (the same one). now with the new phone, i can't even connect with brewsky 8900. can somebody tell me why?

    8900 data cable uploads

    Certainly.. I can explain.

First let me clear something up.. You CAN access your Telus Audiovox 8900, 8920 via a data cable.
Most of our customers have Telus phones and are using our data cables to download pictures.
As far as uploading goes we have had very little success with this (We do have beta testers succesfully uploading java games, mp3 ringers, and custom images) however, very very few. The filesystem of the 89xx series is weak which is why BitPim notes that it doesn't support that handset.
It appears that some models have trouble uploading others seem to have no problems.
I attempted to upload a simple image to the png file directory which caused an endless cycle of rebooting which can be fixed through the 2 seconds time window available while connected to BitPim before the phone reboots again. Most ppl send their phones back for a replacement.
We'll post more info as more testing concludes.

I do have to agree that your response seems a little hostile Pete, but I also agree with what you have to say. When I purchased the Audiovox last Decemeber the selling features were that it a) had speaker phone and b) would allow me to connect using a USB cable making it a cellular modem for my laptop.

When I purchased the phone the USB cable was not yet available however Telus stated on their website that it would be capable of these features. I work in the I.T. industry and as my clients have recently been purchasing these cables to synchronize contacts on their Motorola® phones I was reminded why I purchased this particular phone in the first place. While I probably won't be hurt by not having the ability to download images to and from the phone or create my own ringtones, it is equally annoying that the option is not there. By locking out these options Telus is probably saving the less-then-savvy users from causing nuclear meltdown, but why not give us an option? Remember, we live in Canada, a free nation. Well that is until you wish to do anything that might be considered enjoyable.

^Telus doesn't neuter its phones to save you from ruining it.

They do it to get your money. They try to force you to buy your ringtones and wallpapers and games from them, and force you to upload your pics through them as well.

Telus is famous for nickel and dimeing their customers.

    Telus SUCKS!!!

To Orginal Sender ( Pete )

    Guys!
How about you take it ez now... If you would pay any attention to the new phones, (e.g: Motorola V710 , Nokia 3205i and the upcoming Slide from LG, you'll be able to use either USB or Mem Card (128mb ) to transfer MP3s. images, video or games from ur phone to ur pc.

I don't know if you noticed but out of the three named, there's no Audio_****ty_vox... come on guys... It's made by Hyndai... think twice... Yes it's "pertty" and all... but for once, try to buy a phone for what it can do and not what it looks like!

Anyways... I see both side of the "game" here... Yes cellphone service provider wants to make money... like EVERY other compagnies in the world, not only cellphone compagnies... SO STOP COMPLAINING!

You'll get the same **** from every cellphone service provider, but presented in different ways!

Quick tips on how to choose a cellphone, THE SMART WAY:
    1. What do you NEED the phone to do, beside calling of course.
    2. What's the clients feedback on this phone.
    3. Are you comfortable with the phone.

And please Oh PLease buy your cellphone from Corporate Stores. We can't "screw" you like independent dealers!

Look for Telus Corp. Stores in big Malls.

    Cheers!

    i agree with you Peter
i seriously hate Telus for that.
yeah once i sent an email 20 lines long to'em similar to yours
and they simply replied: 'sorry we dont support data cables for your phone' in a single line. what a rat lol

Those bastards are seriously rippin customers off
they are expectin us customers to pay sth like 2 bucks for each picture or ringtone or whatever s**t they have.

when i used GSM service in europe before coming to canada, they supplied me with data cables and software CDs (they do this for all Samsung, Nokia, Sony Ericsson,,,whatever)
and plus, all of those phones had at least 3 pre-installed games.

ITS STUPID TO PAY THAT MUCH MONEY FOR THAT STUPID PICTURES OR RINGTONES OR WHATEVER
TELUS CONSIDERS THEIR CUSTOMERS RICHASSES OR SOMETHING
    HATE IT
GIVING ME STUPID REPLIES IN THE EMAIL
THEY THOUGHT OF ALL THESE, BLOCKING STH THAT DOESNT ALLOW TRANSFERRIN ANYTHING TO/FROM PC'S.

i was thinkin about changing to Rogers or Fido but my damn contract's not finished too bad

    how's Rogers(or Fido, the same)?
i would change asap if they're any better.

WELL TELUS DOESNT SUCK THAT MUCH OTHER THAN THIS, THOUGH.
THEY'RE KINDA CHEATING CUSTOMERS. WELL THEY PROBABLY KNOW THAT THERE ARE QUITE A LARGE NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS WHO DON'T KNOW THAT DATA CABLES EXIST, THINKING THAT THEY HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THOSE STUPID THINGS ALL THE TIME.

    I HATE IT!!!!!!!

IM USING SAMSUNG SCH-A600 AND FEEL LIKE I GOT CHEATED OR SOMETHING. MANY REASONS...:

It looks the same as SGH-P400 (from the sams company Samsung, but GSM not CDMA), but way suckier.

1.Its ringtones suck as hell..16 tone only...damn..stupid for that price..I PAID 250 BUCKS FOR 3 YEARS CONTRACT THIS SEPTEMBER.
AND ONLY 16 TONES? THAT SUCKS. P400 has 40 tones and has like 40 pre-installed ringtones whereas this one has only 20 or something. (sucky ones)

    2. i cant even change the service light type..(p400 or v200 has more than 5 patterns)

    3. no pre-installed games(this goes to all the telus phones. as i said above they have this in GSM of europe where i used b4)

4.AND EVERYTIME I HAVE TO MOVE PICTURES WITH THAT PICTURE MESSAGING..BEFORE WHEN I USED GSM I DID THIS SIMPLY WITH THE DATA CABLE. I MEAN ITS STUPID AS HELL, TRANSFERRIN 2 PICS THE MOST AT THE TIME, WASTING BOTH TIME AND MONEY.

5.overall, sucks for its price. i can get the same thing for 250~270 euros in europe WITH NO CONTRACT, and better functions. (ringtones, games, connectivity, etc.)

I WANT TO SAY F**K THAT TELUS BUT SOUNDS TOO RUDE LMAO

SO I DONT RECOMMAND GETTIN TELUS' CAMERA PHONES, OR TO THOSE WHO LIKE TRANSFERRIN THEIR OWN PICTURES,RINGTONES AND SO ON..SUCH A RIP-OFF

(I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE NEWER PHONES SUCH AS NOKIA 3205I AND SO ON.)

DAMN I MISS THE SERVICE BACK AT EUROPE..I COULD EVEN MAKE MY OWN RINGTONES AND PICTURES AND TRANSFER TO MY PHONE FOR FREE...AND PLUS, I COULD HAVE 10 PHONES AT THE SAME TIME, CHANGING SIM CARD ONLY. (WELL THIS PROBABLY WORKS IN ROGERS TOO I GUESS)

ANYWAYS THATS ALL! PRETTY LONG THOUGH
    (sorry if these sounded rude)

    juznifront,

The Phone Mall sells the LG 5450 data cables at $29.99 CAD including free shipping. We also provide step by step graphical tutorials on how to download the pics from your phone to your PC as well as hosted direct downloads for drivers as well as software.
We have the above mentioned for nearly all Telus and Bell camera phones.
Our cables have been tested with actual Telus phones and Telus phones are used in the tutorial using our cables and the software/drivers we provide.

To the other guy.. Don't go Rogers. Their coverage is brutal especially if you travel.

PM me if you need more info.

    to thephonemall,

I heard from many people that Telus and Bell block something on their phones that doesnt allow transferring pictures or ringtones or whatever except phonebook(lol) to/from pc's.
    isn't it right?

well i would buy one of those cables from your website for my A600 right away if its 100% assured that it works (on Telus)
