My Mum is after a contract with Orange. 100 mins and 100 texts for £20/month
is being offered as an online deal. The problem is she is already with
Orange on payg and wants to keep her number. If she orders online will she
be able to transfer her Orange payg number to her contract phone? If not
will the local Orange shop match the online deal and transfer the number for
her?
Thanks in advance.

Yes she can transfer her payg number to contract. You get asked this as you
are signing up. Alternatively ring up Orange and order the same deal over
the phone.

Orange shops currently cannot match web deals. AFAIK the website
should ask if you want to keep an existing number, but if in doubt just
get her to call Orange direct to process the sale, and they'll arrange
for the number transfer there and then. This type of connection is
known internally as an NT3 to Orange.

Thanks guys. I'll get her to order online and fill in the relevant bit about
keeping her number.

Yes and no in that order. However there are some fairly keen deals to be
had in store, for example £100 trade-in for an old phone, 1000 free
texts for 18 months etc.

Well they refused to transfer the number over. Got PAC code and she's moving
somewhere else. Obviously Orange don't want the custom.

So she either wasn't the account holder or she had already connected the
contract phone to it's pre-provisioned number.

She was the account holder and hadn't even ordered the contract phone so no
it wasn't connected to it's pre-provisioned number!

What was the reason for refusal then?

They just said it wasn't company policy. I even spoke to them and said they
were going lose a customer and asked for the PAC code they didn't seem
bothered and just transferred me to retentions who said the PAC code will be
in the post.
