Downloading Games

I am new to cell phones and have a few questions about games. It appears that every cell phone comes with 1 or 2 games built-in. Are those games permanent or will they be erased if the SIM Card is changed? I also see a selection called "New Games" but a message appears saying that I must pay $5.99. If a game is downloaded in this way, is the game permanent on the phone? for 1 round of play? for 1 year? Please advise. Thanks.

Re: Downloading Games

Well, it would help a little to know who your service provider is. I know with Sprint, some games can be purchased for a one-time fee, while others cost anywhere from 2.99-5.99 per month if you decide to keep them. If I browse to "get more games" on the phone browser, it usually says somewhere near the bottom how much the game costs, and if it doesnt say "5.99/month" I would assume it's a one-time fee, but if you're unsure you can call your service provider or go to one of their stores and ask.

Depending on your service provider and what kind of limitations they put on your WAP capabilities, you can use your phone's browser to download free games. There are plenty of sites for free games if you search this forum or try a google search. Again, it depends on your service provider because some of them have blocked the ability to get free stuff (ah, capitalism).

If you are by chance with Sprint (I believe this uploader works for Cingular as well, with an sms address to send the download link to) check out the uploader I use at Phone Uploader

Hope this helps...

Thanks. My service provider is T-Mobile. I have pay-as-you-go service as I hardly ever make/receive calls so I don't think that I can download anything. The browser showing the game just says " Play this game for $5.99" so it sounds like a 1-shot deal. Thanks.

T-Mobile won't let you get free games through WAP, regardless of whether you're prepaid or on a contract. They want you to buy theirs. However, with some of the models they sell, you can get around the WAP capabilities by using software and a usb cable to get free stuff on your phone.

If you search hard enough on the web, there are some games that you can get for much cheaper
