The memory appears a little bit stingy on my new Siemens s55, so I can download java games, but then it says "not enough memory to initalise!"
Anyone any advice on either a) am I downloading games which are too big, or b) am I doing something wrong?

check how much free space you have on your drive - i use the same phone and from memory i think it's only 900 odd MB that they let you use - you might have to sacrafice one game for another - or back up some ringtones or pictures to your computer and put them back on later.
hope that helps you out a little.

tHE memory of S55 is 921.61 KB (kilobytes) no 900 MB (megabytes)..to earn a bit more memory 120KB you can delete a file named "graphchart"(or similar) on cache..

738 kb free means not thats the maximum of data.. it means you have 738 free but still 921 are maximum... so 921-738=183 kb are used right now...
I think this 183 kb is used by the graphical cache of the phone... if this helps you out a bithehh

Graphcache means the graphical stuff... so if you use something often, it gets into the cahe so it doesnt need so much to load... cache is like a memory where frequantle used stuff gets in. Like the menus, and if you relight the phone the menu graphics get into the cache (because youll surely need them further) and they need memory: the memory thats missing you.

If you think you have not enough heap memory for java you can increment it via netmonitor. Which sv of the cell do u have? my brother works at siemens and had for long time the s55...

Well i don't have the a s55 but i do have m56 which has a total of 2mb of space, of which only 890 kb is free when you you activate the phone. but you can delete some of the .wav rintones which are worthless and take a lot of space. After cleaning up all the files, including the demo bowling i had 1.3 mb free.
