Hi, I was wondering if anyone here uses the Simple Freedom Prepaid wireless cell phones powered by Alltel? We have three of them in our family and for almost three weeks now we haven't been able to make outgoing calls, or no, I should say, it's hit and miss, we can get maybe 1 call out every few days if we're lucky. I have called customer service 5 times now and am told the same thing, they are having an "outage" in our area code calling area. Is anyone else having this problem? My husband and I went out and bought the NET 10 prepaid cell phones and are pretty happy with the service so far. We gave our Simple Freedom phones to our sons but it's a darn shame they can't make outgoing calls on them due to the "outage." Does anyone know how long these things normally last? As of right now, I'm about to toss the three Simple Freedom phones out in the road and let bypassers run them over!

    Enothing,
I have already dropped Simple Freedom and am now using NET10 who I am absolutely happy with, but my husband and I gave our Simple Freedom prepaid cell phones to our sons, you can't switch carriers with a prepaid cell phone that I am aware of, but then again, I am new to all this so I may be wrong. I can tell ya this much though, I'll never buy another Simple Freedom phone.

    Simple Freedom Done In May

i WAS TOLD MY WALMART IN bLOOOMINGTON INDIANA THAT AS OF MAY SIMPLE FREEDOM WILL BE NO MORE!! I INQUIRED ABOUT THEM BECAUSE THEY STOPPED HAVING REFILL CARDS AND SO I ASKED AND THAT WAS WHAT I WAS TOLD BY EMPLOYEE OF ELECTRONICS DEPT. SO THAT'S WHY THEN NO LONGER ARE CARRYING PHONES OR REFILL AIRTIME CARDS. SO IF I WERE YOU I WOULD THROW THEM ON OUT!!! THEY AREN'T HARDLY WORTH KEEPING ANYWAY!! I AM THINKING OF TRYING NET 10 NYSELF BUT I JUST THINK THAT THEIR PHONE $$ ARE LITTLE BIT ON THE STEEP SIDE AND THEY DON'T COME W/ HARDLY ANY MINUTES!

Simple Freedom use to be a prepaid service that was a combination of Alltel and Verizon Wireless. They have recently split, and is now only operated by Alltel. Where in alltel areas the srevice should remain the same. In Verizon areas there will be problems while converting over. And no new activations will be possible in Verizon only areas. There are much better options for prepaid then Simple Freedom. About the only thing they have going for them is the somewhat inexpensive roaming at 50 cents a minute.
