so I've been to the common search engines to do a reverse cell phone number search with people finder and stuff, and all they can tell me is that the number is Toronto based and origonally a Bell Mobility number. Without paying, are there any other ways to track a cell phone number? it's kind of importand.
thanks alot,
Karen.
PS. Hi everyone, I'm new here.

Hi Karen, welcome to the site! You have just asked a question that is heavily debated, and you're going to have a hard time getting a straight answer. The truth is, there is no such thing as a reverse cell phone lookup, primarily because most cell phones are unlisted.
There is no such thing as a consolidated cell phone directory. You can use www.411.com to find out which service provider owns the number, but that isn't always accurate due to number portability. Try doing a search of our website, link in my signature, and use keywords like: reverse number, reverse phone, track number, trace phone, etc and you can find many other threads that address this.
You might even find out more than what I can tell you if you dig deep enough.

As you have found out, there are alot of "services" out there that can get name, address and personal info, about any number you are willing to pay for. But the key phrase is "willing to pay for".
The cheapest, fastest and easiest way to find out anything, is to of course ask. If you have the number, the easiest thing to do is to dial it up and ask who the number belongs to. If it's important for you to know who the number belongs to, then it's important enough to dial it direct and ask.
Using search engines may turn something up, but there is no way of actually knowing that the number that pops up with info saying that the number belongs to BlkBear of Seattle, actually means it still belongs to that person. And unless the person or someone else has posted info on the net or in some sort of public info database with the number you are looking for, it's not likely that you'll find it, especially if it's a cell phone number.
There are a few public databases that have several of my old landline phone numbers (from different states even), and two have one of my old cell phone numbers with numbers still listed as being mine. In both cases for the cell phone numbers, I had to enter the info into the people find database to have it even find me doing a search.
Happy hunting Karen!

Cripes...a thousand apologies. The post I mentioned is valid and may or may not be helpful. I erred in stating that the member did this for a living...confused them with another member here.

I may have been partially at fault for your misunderstanding, and if so, I apologize. However, to set the record straight, I am (also) involved in this line of work and my website provides assorted investigative services.
The service that traces cell phone numbers is here; it traces all USA and Canadian phone numbers, costs $79 and is 100% guaranteed. No info, no fee!
It hope this helps!

Re: How do I trace a cell phone number?
hey everyone. I'm terribly sorry I did not pop in earlier to let you in on the news. see, well, the whole story would have helped origonally. So, the quick virsion; I started dating this man who is a great guy, but quite a bit older... anyways, I didn't tell anyone for a long time b/c I figured, why cause a fuss when I'm not even sure if I like him that much, or where we are headed. so, long story short, my best friend had a problem with it and the man I'm seeing started getting these threatening texts from an unknown number who claimed me to be "their girl". all evidence pointed to my best friend, and my boyfriend was waiting for an oppurtunity to confront him on it, even though my buddy swore to me it wasn't him. so, I was afriad that my best friend was gonna get pounded cos whoever sent these texts was very rude and sick about it, and would have deserved a good smack upside the head. we did call, and I text the number daily, but there was never an answer. anyways, the truth finally slipped out that it was one of my boyfriends buddies who wants me. needless to say the friendship is over. sorry for all the confusion.

Just a guess...one of the things you found appealing about this older fellow was that he didn't behave like a juvenile? LOL.
I wonder if your cell ph. company would have provided assistance in that you say the texts were threatening in nature.
Wishes for the best, however it all works out for you.

If the text messages were of a threatening nature and you had any concern as to their validity, your local Police Department should have been the first avenue of assistance.

Re: How do I trace a cell phone number?
Here's the site I use most times - it's free to search for the number and only costs $14.95 to deliver the info you need, ie., name, current address, age, roommates (if any), etc.
They're very thorough and if they can't come up with the cell phone number, there's no charge whatsoever for the service! Sweet!
Hope this helps.

If you have a legit reason, you can go through cell company or police.
