I am searching for a used unlocked phone but not sure how compatible they are.

my current carrier is Centennial Wireless ( Centennial Wirelesst ). they are a pretty small company, but have vastly grown in the past 2-3 years. They are used mainly in Indiana and the surrounding states.

So, when it comes to searching for an unlocked phone, I'm not sure what ones will or will not work. Do I just need an unlocked GSM phone?

I have mainly been looking on ebay and such, and most phones advertise T Mobile and Cingular for being 'unlocked'


so which phones will I be able to actually use?

You will need to find out if your carrier is GSM or TDMA and which bandwidths they use. With that info you will be able to know what unlocked phones to look for.
