2 Months ago I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S3. Yesterday while shopping it (and my wallet) was stolen out of my cart when I turned around to talk to my father. When I filed the claim, the replacement fee was not $50 as the T-Mobile rep told me when he sold me the phone and insurance, but $130.00!
The monthly insurance is now $8 instead of $5, and with the replacement fee equal to a new phone with a 2 year extension to my contract this plan is simply a colossal waste of a monthly fee (plus tax, in Arizona...).

Re: Asurion: Not worth the cost
While I don't use Asurion anymore, I still believe it's worth it. To replace the phone outright is going to cost a lot more ($600) than the deductible. It's clearly written that the deductible is more for any smartphone.

Re: Asurion: Not worth the cost
Problem is they only send you the phone...not a new one in the box with all the stuff. Also, as I mentioned, the cost for a new one at the T-Mobile store with a 2-year extension (from today's date) is the same amount as the insurance "fee".
What's worse is that the salesperson stated that it would only be $50, which was not true. That makes it much less pleasant.

Re: Asurion: Not worth the cost
Sorry to hear that happened to you. I would also be upset if something of mine was stolen.
I'm not familiar with Asurion. I'm starting to wonder which is better, Asurion or SquareTrade.
Have you had any experience with SquareTrade?

Re: Asurion: Not worth the cost
Can't you go to Asurion's website to find out how much the deductible is for a given phone? I don't know if the T-Mobile rep was intentionally lying or mistaken, but I think Asurion lists deductibles for all of their phones. Next time, before you decide for or against the insurance, just check their website to make sure the rep is correct.
