I just got a smartphone at work so I am considering closing my personal full service Sprint account for my Galaxy SIII and just using it as a wifi device.
Meanwhile I have an old Motorola Razr VE20 that had run on Sprint network that is still in great shape. I'd like to activate that device on a cheap talk/text only (no data) plan to use as a backup phone while hiking/cycling etc. and to keep my phone number.
Seems like these plans are hard to find amongst all the hype for smart phone plans. Ideally I'd like to find a prepaid voice only plan that would cost me less than $10 month... or better yet one that bills only for usage which will be next to nothing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It should also work on Sprint MVNOs. So far the best I have seen for my situation is NetZero at $8 per month for 100 minutes. That'll work. And I entered my meid number and they say my phone is compatible. My biggest problem will be getting folks to call and text my new work number since I really don't want to be texting on that old flip phone.
