Back Up Application Data:
- Open the “Settings” menu
- Under “Personal”, tap “Backup & reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and other account data to your Google account
- By enabling “Automatic restore” app data will be restored automatically upon reinstalling the said app
NOTE: Applications will also be restored the next time you sign in with your Google account, on a new device, or on the ZMAX 2 after a fresh master reset.
Back Up Contacts:
- Access “Settings”
- Under “Accounts” select the desired account to sync contacts with
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up in this manner will be restored automatically upon signing in with your Google account for the first time (on a new phone or for example, after a factory reset).
Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- Open the “Contacts” app
- Go to the “Contacts” tab
- Press “Menu” > “Import / Export”
- Tap “Export to storage”
- If necessary, rename the file, and tap “OK” to confirm
Restore Contacts from the SD Card:
- Open the “Contacts” app
- Tap the “Contacts” tab and press “Menu”
- Tap “Import / Export” > “Import from storage”
- Select an account to sync the contacts with, and select the vCard file on the SD card
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the ZTE ZMAX 2 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the “Status” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)”
- Open an Explorer window on the computer and navigate to the phone storage
- Locate the desired media files on the phone, and copy them
- Navigate to the desired backup directory on the computer and paste the files
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray, and safely disconnect the device
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the ZTE ZMAX 2 to your computer using the USB cable
- Drag the “notification” bar down and make sure “Media device” is enabled
- On the computer, launch an Explorer window
- Locate the media files backed up on your computer, and copy them
- Navigate to the phone storage, and paste the files in the “Media” directory
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone from the system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB
Enable / Disable Anti-Theft:
NOTE: Anti-Theft is an Android security features that allows you to set a password to protect your phone from unwanted factory resets. To enable / disable Anti-Theft:
- Tap “Apps” and go to “Settings”
- Tap “Security” > “Mobile anti-theft”
- In case this is the first time you access the feature, enter a PIN / password, confirm it, and tap “Next”
- Set one of your contacts as an “Emergency” contact and tap “Next” > “Done”
NOTE: To disable Anti-Theft, follow the steps above, then tap “Turn off mobile Anti-Theft”. You will be required to enter your PIN / password to complete the process
