WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the internal memory will be lost, including apps, media files, contacts, downloaded content etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up and reset data before the master reset.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings” and tap “Backup & reset”
- Tap “Factory data reset”
- Read the “Warning” message and tap “Reset phone”
- In case your device is lock screen-protected, enter the password / PIN etc. to proceed
- Tap “Continue” > “Erase Everything”
- Your device will now reboot
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: In case you are unable to reset the device using the method above, you can try an alternative method which relies on turning off the phone and performing a combination of button presses, as follows:
- Make sure the phone is turned off
- Press and hold “Volume Up” and “Power” simultaneously
- At the Android image, release the buttons
- From the “Android system recovery” menu, press “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
- Press “Power” to select the option
- Next, make sure “Yes – delete all user data” is highlighted and press “Power”
- Once the phone is reset, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
- Press “Power” and wait for your phone to reboot in normal mode
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After a fresh factory reset, it’s recommended to verify if newer software updates are available for download.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access “Settings”
- Scroll down to “System” and tap “About phone”
- Tap “System update”
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
