Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  3. Tap “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Turn Off Connectivity When Not in Use:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when not in use (including Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot), you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” tiles to disable these features
  3. For additional GPS settings, open “Settings” and go to “Location
  4. Next, tap “More” and enable “Power saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap to turn off “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot

Use 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: To improve battery life in case you are running low and you don’t have access to a wall socket, you can switch to 2G connectivity.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Select “2G

Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Display” under “Device
  3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left side of the screen
  5. Return to “Display” and tap “Sleep
  6. Select a lower value such as “15 seconds

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect the phone’s battery performance when they are not in use, because some apps perform regular background processes. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device
  3. Go to “Downloaded
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn off the app
  6. To remove the app completely, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by reducing sync.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  4. Select an account type and the desired account
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
