Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Turn on “Battery saver

Turn Off Connectivity When Unused:

NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when the features are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi”, and “Location” tiles to turn off these options
  3. Next, go to “Settings
  4. Tap “Location” for additional GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  6. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap to turn off “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot

Use 2G Instead of 4G:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Choose “2G

Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Display” under “Device
  3. Disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level
  5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
  6. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep
  7. Choose a lower timeout value, like “15 seconds

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  4. Select an account type
  5. Tap your account and disable the desired sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain applications can have a negative effect on your phone’s battery performance even when not in use, as they can perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device
  3. Go to the “Downloaded” screen
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Certain software updates can include improvements to battery life. Thus, it’s recommended that you keep your phone up to date at all times.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  3. Scroll down to “System
  4. Tap “About phone” > “System update
  5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
