Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Select “Battery saver” and tap the toggle to “ON” to enable the feature
  5. Alternatively, tap “Turn on automatically” and select a battery percentage at which the Battery saver enables itself

Lower The Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings
  2. Tap “Display
  3. Tap “Brightness level
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
  5. To lower timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select an option like “15 seconds” or “30 seconds

Disable Connectivity When Unused:

NOTE: by turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, and Bluetooth when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” sliders to “OFF
  4. Under the network options, tap “more
  5. Tap “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
  6. Tap to disable “Portable Wi-Fi hotspot

Switch to 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can temporarily switch to 2G connectivity to conserve battery life until the next recharge. To do this:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Cellular networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type
  5. Select to use “2G” only

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when they are not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, by turning off or uninstalling unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
  4. Go to “Downloaded
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap “Disable” to turn off the app
  7. Or tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove the app

NOTE: Recent tests show that the Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps have a great negative impact on battery life. If possible it’s recommended to remove these apps and use alternatives instead, such as Facebook Lite.

Keep the Firmware Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. If a new update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it. A reboot may be required in the process
