Turn ON Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  5. Optionally, you can turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. To reduce timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Turn Off Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when unused, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. One the home screen, use two fingers to drag the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
  3. For more options, open “Settings
  4. Tap “Location” (GPS), then tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  5. To turn off Wi-Fi Hotspot, go back to “Settings
  6. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the option

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: IF your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Turn on “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your apps / accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal
  3. Tap “Accounts
  4. Select the desired account to change its sync settings

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes. As such they can potentially affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device
  2. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  3. Select the desired application
  4. Tap “Force Stop” to disable it
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

NOTE: You can also remove apps from the phone by opening the apps drawer and dragging > dropping the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

Keep the Software Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To verify if new OS updates are available:

  1. First open “Settings
  2. Then scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
