Is it something to do with the number of channels?
I can't seem to get a warrenG-regulators.mid to work on my phone.
Cheers.

But it can sometimes be in the BIT of the polyphonic tone. If the phone only has 12 bit and you try to put in a 24 bit tone, the phone can't decode it and will refuse to play. I had this problem with a Panasonic before i changed it.

knowing what kind of fone u got really helps in a question like this.

also the size of the midi can be important...
i think my 3530 (ie 3510i) would refuse to play any midi over the size of 15k

When I was making midis for my NEC e606 I noticed that it didn't accept Type 1 midis, only Type 0. When I saved them as Type 0, they worked fine.
I was using Noteworthy Composer to make the midis and it has an option for Type 1 or Type 0 when saving.
Hope that helps.
