I have been struggling lately bugging my friends with different wireless providers if I could use their phones to try to text message people in different countries, mainly Mexico. I have Nextel and I cant send a text message to TelCel subcribers in Mexico. Does anybody have experience with international text messaging, in particular to Mexico w/ TelCel subscribers. I tell you, the first subscriber I find that will allow me to text message a Mexico TelCel user I am switching over to them so fast its not even funny. Any help appreciated, thanks.

hi! i have t-mobile family plan which my wife and i used for calling each other and i have t-mobile prepaid and a cingular prepaid. both prepaid that we have is use only for text message. im doing alot of txt massage to canada, taiwan, spain, engalnd, specialy in the philippines. i never try it to mexico yet. all incoming massage to t-mobile always go thru but cingular did not recieve incoming txt from canada i don't know why. if you have a friend who have t-mobile just try to send a massage to mexico it's only 10cents per send just to see if this gonna work. i dont use my t-mobile w/ plan for text massege because they charge 5cents per send inside the u.s. 5cents for incoming and 15cents for international text per send. but the t-mobile prepaid is 10cents u.s. and international per send and free for incoming same thing with cingular. just go for prepaid if you only want a text massage your $10 last for 30 day just put $10 before the end of 30 days your remaining balance will carried over to the new load that you put in. hope this info will help you. take care now.

i just find out that telcel is (gsm) company. t-mobile, cingular and at&t are gsm. it's easy if you send text massage gsm to gsm but nextel to gsm i don't know about that! im not sure if nextel using cdma or tdma which diff format of text massaging to gsm. i think that the problem why your text did not go thru to mexico and mexico is consider international if you sending a text massage.

DUDE! Thanks for the help, you have been like the only person to replied to my cry for help on all the forums I have posted. I will try what you told me, but its funny how you mention that gsm/cdma, but how is it possible that the person in Mexico on the gsm TelCel and send me a txt here? I will nonetheless try what you have told me to try. Another question...when you txt to international countries do you put jus the 10 digit phone number or do you put in the country code? For example....Mexico is country code 52...do I put "52123456890" or "+521234567890"? I appreciate your help, and if you could help me out some more it would be awesome!

when you text local or international always put plus (+) if you storing number to your phone book put plus. example n.y. area code 1212 put (+1212 tel. no.). store that way to your phone book. if you calling international you dial 011, take that 011 put plus instead. let say germany, (011)491234567890 take that 011 off, put +491234567890, on gsm this is the format of calling someone and sending text that's why if you saving phone number to your phone book always put plus no space on all the number. telcel is a gsm company. i look on my unlocking code generator about this service provider. that's why if you sending text to telcel your not gonna have a problem. if they sending a text to you your not gonna have a problem either because they both gsm. the only problem is how much they charge in mexico for sending an international text massage? it's more affordable here because it's only 10 cents per send on a t-mobile prepaid and 15 cent if you using with plan. at&t is more expensive 25 cents per send i think incoming to. just post it here if you have more question. take care.

Hi, I was wondering if you got an Pay as you Go plan with T-Mobile and did international text messaging work?
My girlfriend is in Washington at the moment and I live in UK, she got a Virgin mobile phone on Pre-Paid and we can't text each other, I rang T-Mobile and got a representative who didn't really know what I was asking I think.
However he claimed they don't offer international texting on pre-paid but do on pay monthly contracts.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

    Thanks,

    Jonny L
