Some providers, Cingular for example, don't seem to support phones that are not customized/re-programmed by them.

I asked T-Mobile and they said they would just install the SIM card, but the people at the stores don't seem to be extremely knowledgable.

The phone is supposed to support this frequencies:

"Dual mode WCDMA/GSM operation and tri-band GSM coverage on up to five continents (GSM 900/1800/1900 and WCDMA 2100 networks)" http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,70878,00.html

Which providers would accept this phone and under what circumstances?

Would they have to reprogram it or lock it?

I am also interested in knowing whether a provider lets you browse the web or if they only let you go to certain of approved sites. Does that depend on the plan?

Do all providers allow you to install Java applications that you can download directly from the phone's browser? What about Symbian applications?
