I live in a small town of about 30,000 people Called Roseburg. Its in Northwest Oregon, and I want to get a new cell phone carrier. I don't have business needs or anything like that, I just want to get a good provider. I currently have US Cellular. What kind of plans/providers would you all recommend?

I don't know if US Cellular is GSM or not but, I haven't tried them. I am currently using T-Mobile. I really recommend them for their customer service, good amount of phones, and GSM Network.

Stay away from Cingular and Sprint if you live in small towns. I know T-Mobile is kind of bad in those areas too but, you still get 1-3 bars depending. Verizon is the best for all over network but, they aren't GSM so you have to go through a big deal with Verizon when wanting a new phone.

My estimate for your area...1-4 (1 being best)
    1) Verizon: 3-5 Bars and Great Signal
    2) T-Mobile: 2-3 Bars and Medicre
    3) Cingular: 1-2 Bars and Low...
    4) Sprint: 0-2 Bars and Poor

Overall just stay away from Sprint. They have a very bad coverage network. Cingular too, they kind of ruined AT&T with the merge...(Damn bastards).

T-Mobile or Verizon is your best bet. I love T-Mobile's Customer Service and GSM thats why I went with them. If you get Verizon your customer service might vary...

    Good Luck!

if you live in a small little town i would recommend Verizon. they are a horrible company to deal with, but they do offer the best service coverage. I was a Verizon user for many years. i got really pissed at them for a number a reasons, and switched. i now have a prepaid. while i do pay a little more for my minutes, i am not locked into a contract, i can make international calls at the same rates as domestic and don't have to worry about dealing with their embarrassingly horrible customer service. i switched to smaller company that operates on the Verizon wireless network, but is not Verizon. they provide great customer service, i am never thrown in a cue and i can talk to a live person anytime necessary.
