Well if you already have a contract and are out of one, then you may purchase a new phone at full price with out having to renew you contract. If you have Cingular or T-Mobile then all you would really need to do is just switch your sim card into another Cingular or T-Mobile phone with out affecting your plan at all.

Now, if you don't have a contract and don't want to get one, then go for prepaid, which could get a little pricey though.

I hate the two year contract. My dad is the only one in my family (that's one out of seven) who keeps his phone for the whole two years. I really like the idea of one year contracts; I just hate the price of the phone because you're essentially paying the termination fee up front with 1 year plans.
