Hi , Hope someone can help. I have three phones, one i just took off of pageplus a LG VX6100, and wanted to put it on locus platinum since they have a local area code here for me, anyways, after i get it off page plus, i call locus platinum and i gave her my esn hex and she gave me my new number, when i put the *228 in, it wouldnt program, so she tells me to Call LG and gives me the number to call them, etc, of couse they cant help me with this, I try to go in the service code menu with all 000000 of couse that wont work, tried various other combonation of numbers as well , still no luck. After all of that i call back locus platinum she says phone number they gave me is correct , but lg vx6100 is not supported, she has no directions how to program this phone.. So is there any way i can program it myself? if so how do i get past the 00000 problem?

this is a long shot but...

am i correct in assuming this phone was originally activated with Cingular or AT&T? (when i was with locus those were the only phones they could activate, and your question baffles me because PagePlus and Locus are different subdivisions of the same company, they shouldnt have trouble activating each others' stuff) If this is the case, you *might* be able to go to a store that sells Cingular and they *might* be able to unlock the phone for you. no promises on that one, but it's all I can think of. If all else fails, you can buy a phone off ebay that locus can activate, just make sure before you bid on it that it's unlocked and that Locus supports the model.

    hope this helps!

ok there was something wrong with my last post...

PagePlus is not part of Locus, I had them confused with CallPlus, which is a subdivision of the Locus companies.

this puts me back to my original assertion: unless they have recently changed, Locus told me they could only activate old Cingular and AT&T phones. They told me the brand and model didn't matter as long as the phone was Cingular or AT&T. That might be why she couldn't get the phone to work.

That would be a good question for Locus... I am just going by what I know from doing business with them 2 years ago. Maybe this will put you in the right direction...

fyi, the vx6100 is a CDMA phone. i just googled it. then i googled Locus. here is a link to their compatible phones:

    http://www.locus.net/html/compatible_list.html

they have both GSM and CDMA service listed. what plan exactly are you looking to use, it will determine which phone you are able to use.

--ok, i missed that you were using platinum, which is cdma, but your phone is not listed. i'm going to search a page i have for unlocking tips.

    hopefully this helps.

I didn't know this either, Nick, but Locus Platinum is CDMA. so my advice might not even apply. Locus is confusing because they have about 10 different prepaid companies under one roof. They used to be only TDMA, then they recently went to GSM service, but I was not aware of CDMA service until i read your post and went back to look again for myself.

i noticed that they do have a lot of options.

here's an interesting side note for us lg users. locus CAN unlock LG phones over the phone. granted you need to have a ton of info:

    http://www.locusmobile.com/html/gsm_help_faq.html

just interesting as many people, me included, thought it was impossible.

okay, home from work now i had some time to look into this whole locus phone confusion. since they are actually several companies rolled into one confusing website, it took a few minutes to figure out.

Locus Mobile can activate practically ANY cingular or at&t phone that is TDMA or GSM
Oxygen Wireless, another Locus co. is identical to above but with different rates (?)
Callplus Wireless is again, like the first but different rates. all 3 have identical coverage

Locus Platinum is CDMA service, but they have a very specific list of compatible models
Viva Wireless is another Locus co. identical to Locus Platinum but different rates (?)

All these companies can be found at the bottom of Locus Mobile's page, they are 5 of the 11 buttons that link to their 11 different companies. The same button links appear at the bottom of all the different companies' sites. I don't understand why they don't just merge and come up with one rate? it would make their airtime cards easier to find in convenience stores (buy your prepaid minutes online tax free! FL taxes prepaid calling cards, do other states???) well anyway.....

to hopefully close this thread and answer the original question... Locus Platinum can only activate CDMA phones that are on the following list of compatible models:

    http://www.locusplatinum.com/html/cdma_list.html

ps locus GSM should be able to unlock/activate ANY cingular GSM phone, even a Razr (don't know how the heck you'd transfer files to it though, would have to be a phone with a data cable), though i would call them first to ask before i spent money on another phone. i had 3 different phones when i used locus (tdma), all 3 i got at a great price on ebay.

your phone isn't on the list, sorry.

OK NOW I AM CONFUSED, apparently the VX doesnt mean anything and it's the same thing as a 6100? well in that case i suppose i gave you the right answer to the wrong question again.

did you change the default security code since you've owned the phone? or is it the default code and you just don't know the code? did you try googling an instructio0n manual for your phone?

this is probably another dead end and you probably tried it already, but how about 111111? i tried to google some info on your phone and thats the only thing i could find where someone said theirs was 111111.

sorry none of this stuff panned out for you (unless the 111111 thing works that would be cool) i'd take the thing to a verizon store and try to get them to help you. getting them to do something for nothing might require some sweet talking or some cash but if anyone can help you it would be someone that works at a verizon dealer. (maybe repost in the verizon forum and re-title "need service menu code, 000000 doesnt work") your phone was originally a verizon model and pageplus reactivated it. pageplus doesnt know the code either?
