I am looking for a cell phone that gives me Good quality sound, has a long battery life, Large enough buttons for a senior to see, A screen that can be seen in the day time, and large enough that I don't get a hand cramp from holding it. A phone that don't get so hot that it burns my ear. I don't care if it looks good I want it to work as a Phone...

After that if there are other features that work then that would be fine.

Any positive advice would be appreciated!

Re: Need a cell phone that has Function over Fashion

I recently got a Sanyo Katana, and my 50-something yr old mom is bugging me to get her one now because she can very easily see the large screen (240x320). As far as the buttons, they are big and rectangular, but my only complaint is they aren't contoured and I have to actually look at the phone while texting because I can't feel my way around the keypad.

Despite the flatness of the keypad and the lame ringtones the Katana came with, I really like my Katana and I haven't even mentioned what I like the most about it... this phone gets better reception than any of 4 Sprint phones I've used... side-by-side with a Samsung A840 and LG PM-225 (the other 2 phones currently on my plan) this phone has a Sprint signal in places where those other 2 phones are either roaming or searching for service (for example, in the back of the grocery store!).

Oh... the speaker is on the back of the phone, so if you put your phone in your pocket you won't hear it ring. This is easily remedied with a belt clip, but I still wish the ringtones (especially downloaded ones) were a little louder. The earpiece is plenty loud, however. Overall, I would recommend this phone for someone like you, but I'd recommend goping to your nearest Sprint Store and asking to look at one first.

Oh, almost forgot to mention... while this phone is advertised as a "slim" phone and is in fact more slender than the first Razr V3, it's wider and slightly longer than other phones I've had... so I don't think hand cramps will be a problem because of the wideness... good luck with your decision!

I recommend you to check out the Just5 Easyphone. With this phone, you can both have fashion and function. This is very ideal for seniors as its features are really geared to offer this group of people a convenient cell phone experience. Specifically, this phone features big buttons, amplified sound, long lasting battery, ease of operation, and a personal emergency response system. It also has other practical features such as built-in flashlight that can work even if the phone is off.

The calling plans offered by this provider are very practical, too. Your purse won’t get hurt.
