I'm having the hardest time finding information I need for what I'm trying to do here.

Ok, my cable company had decided to forcefully insert the (blank) into my (blank) and I'm going to be forced to drop my high speed internet and...well...everything it seems.

I'm working on my graduate thesis right now though and I must have internet access at home so I'm exploring options.

I've looked into setting up a data plan with my current provider (AT&T) as I'm up for renewel but when I went in to ask about getting a data plan that will tether to a new phone the price seems out of line.

I know there is a lot of back and forth talk about tethering on this site so I'm left confused.

Here is exactly what I want:

    >A new phone that can get on the internet (prob 3g or equivilant)
    >A data plan that will allow me (legally or not) to tether via a cable
*I do not have blue tooth on my laptop and I need to be able to use this with both this machine and my desktop at home.
    >A reasonable monthly cost
    >High speed..generally

I am not married to AT&T what so ever but they get good service here and when I move to Syracuse I will be in a 3g coverage area.

    Your thoughts, simply put.

    Thanks
