This has caused me problems with callees not answering because I am identified only as "Wireless Caller". I am using Virgin Mobile, and yeah, I know they are the Diet Coke of service providers. I asked them about the issue and they said they are operating correctly, it's the local phone company's fault. That may be true, but somehow T-Mobile found a way to make it work.

I have a friend who had T-Mobile and her name showed up in caller ID, but her service was cancelled due to "excessive roaming minutes" and it looks like T-Mobile has given up on central Iowa altogether. It's a shame since she had the service for 7 years in Florida and only lost it when she moved here for a contract job.

The prime candidate before me is Verizon. If I use Verizon, will my name show up in people's caller ID? Has anyone tried their pay as you go service? The J.D Powers ratings for their pay as you go service are really bad.

Re: Service Provider that provides caller's caller ID?

This is called CNAM caller id and the service provider has the ability to change the name, most prepaid companies will not change the name for you because they recycle the numbers pretty rapidly. Because people don't refill their accounts with more mins so they loose the number and then somone else gets it and it would just be a hassle for the provider. Also some people pay in cash for prepaid phone and dont want to be registered with their name.
