    Hi!
I`m as an exchange in the states, and since the dollar makes everything really cheap for me in here I thought about buying a new phone in the U.S.

    my needs are:
    triband (for use in Europe)
    WiFi

which one would you recommend?which one is the cheapest? I`m searching for used or new, depending on the price, but I really don`t want to spend that much, since a moile phone is not that much of a status symbol for me.

Your question is absolutely not stupid but I think a little more detail about your requirement would be useful. I will try some things.

Firstly, if you buy a phone from the provider w/o contract it is going to be expensive, I don't know what your definition of cheap is? It will also be locked to that provider and you will need the unlock code.

Secondly a WiFi enabled GSM phone will be a SmartPhone and there are only a handful of them available, none of them are inexpensive by any means.

Off hand the the AT&T aka HTC Kaiser is a WiFi phone but it is stacked with much more than maybe what you need.

I need a phone that is unlocked, because i want to use it also with my german provider when i`m back home.

and i know that wifi phones are quite up to date models, so i won`t get them for a hand full of bux.
but by cheap i mean cheap for a wifi...
