My contract with my existing provider ends in July, and I'm going to switch providers, but I want to keep my number. I know you're not suppose to cancel your account with your current provider if you want to keep your number, and instead just do it when you change providers and then your old service will automatically be canceled. But if I wait for my contract to expire, and then switch providers, will I still be keeping my number?

Basically what I'm saying is, an expired contract isn't the same as a canceled account, correct?

You are correct. You will not lose the number when the contract expires.

Ok cool. So all I have to do is wait until my contract expires, switch to a new service provider and have them move my number onto their service which will automatically cancel my old service, correct?
