Re: Iphone 4s with Puretalk USA Unlimited with Data
PureTalk USA offers an unlimited talk and text plan, with 300 MB of data, for $43.95 per month.
I'd recommend Straight Talk, since you can get unlimited talk, text, and data for $45 per month. For about $1 more, you'll get unlimited data. You can also use your iPhone with this plan, and it will use AT&T's network, just like PureTalk USA.
I'll send you a private message with some additional information.

Re: Pure Talk USA
What is the data service like with Pure TalkUSA? From what I hear from other ATT MVNO's the data speed is basically the same as using ATT directly, but I can't find any info specifically for Pure Talk.
I'm about to get one of our iPhone 4's hooked up on the Unlimited Plus+ plan, so I'll try to remember to post the results here!
For those suggesting StraightTalk because of unlimited data... I would rather save a few dollars and not pay $15 per sim. It's also for 30 days not a month so ends up around $45.63/month 600MB/month is more than enough for us, we never went over on the ATT 200MB/mo data plan.

Re: Pure Talk USA
We have had a service active for about 2 weeks now on an iPhone 4:
- Voice coverage is good… AT&T network is strong where we are (San Francisco)
- Data speeds are slow, but reliable and perfectly usable when working… less than 0.5Mbps using speedtest, compared with up to 5Mbps using ATT directly.
- Data much better than t-mobile on the iPhone… 0.5Mbps is usable, < 0.05Mbps and a little flaky is not. T-mobile only supports 2G currently on iPhones.
- Data stopped working completely once, but was ok after resetting iPhone.
- Had to use iPhone Configuration utility to set network settings (APN etc)
- The tethering option is missing on the iPhone or config utility
- MMS config option is also missing, but we don't use MMS for the most part.
So... on balance it's a better service for us than t-mobile, whose coverage is quite spotty where we live and a number of other places we go in SF. Might be different with a different phone that supports t-mobile 3G bands, but I think this would mostly fix the data speeds and not so much the coverage. I'm going to move my iPhone over now too, even though it costs $8/month more total than our t-mobile prepaid plans ($30+$50 vs 2*$44).
I should also note it was a real pain to get the phone number transferred. I didn't know there was a pin on the t-mobile account and the pure talk and t-mobile systems didn't talk to each other, so the request just ended up being stuck as 'pending' for 3 days, even though I called every day to check the status. Very frustrating. But the good news is that the PureTalk staff are fairly helpful, and I didn't have to wait very long to speak to a support person.

Re: Pure Talk USA
Yes I had to cut the SIM down to a micro SIM. It's easy enough, just be sure to use a template (search google for 'sim to micro sim template') and/or an existing micro SIM if you have one as a guide. Be careful if using a micro SIM as your only guide to make sure to line up the connectors correctly... the total connection area can be different, but the lines between sections are in the same place (so go by the lines/markings not the overall shape). I got over-confident on my third SIM cut-down and made this mistake! Fortunately I could cut a little strut from the card to fill the gap and make it work.
Also a correction re data speeds:
They are the same as on regular AT&T service... they are NOT slower! I had a friend do a side-by-side speedtest for AT&T vs an AT&T MVNO and the results were basically the same around 0.5Mbps. So it's just that AT&T's network is a little slow here, not that the MVNO's are running data slower. If AT&T gets 5Mbps where you are, in all likelihood you will get similar speeds with PureTalk and other MVNO's... I've also read elsewhere that data speeds can be quite good on MVNO's so this is consistent with other reports.Last edited by Huacanacha; 09-21-2012 at 02:16 PM.

Re: Pure Talk USA
I ordered a sim card for new service activation from PureTalk on 03/19/13, I paid an additional $29.95 for next day shipping. As of 03/22/13 I have not yet received the sim card, have emailed them twice with no response whatsoever, but I have already been billed $78.85 for sim card ($4.95), service plan ($43.95, and shipping ($29.95). I have found a few complaints from people who did not receive a cell phone/sim card for 2-4 weeks (They had already paid for a full month of service, been billed for a 2nd month and still no sim card/phone).

Re: Pure Talk USA
The $30 charge was for "next day" shipping. I think we are well beyond "next day".

Re: Pure Talk USA
Pure Talk charges you for one month of service when you request your Sim Card, but the time clock does not start till you activate it. They are a reputable company...Maybe they don't have millions of customer service reps, but that is why the cost is so reasonable. So you could not have been charged the second month as you indicated.

Re: Pure Talk USA
I received my sim card after 3 days. I will let you know about the rest after my phone gets here. The phone is coming from Best Buy.
I used the standard shipping. I'm in Las Vegas and it came from I think GA. Not bad. Don't pay for shipping.Last edited by nomad555; 06-15-2013 at 12:58 PM.

Re: Pure Talk USA
I just ordered a sim for 4.95 and the 10.00 plan. I chose free shipping. They shipped it next day and I was charged 14.95 for sim plus first month service. BUt they also charged me 14 bucks for "free" shipping. I emailed them they responded saying its resolved. Yet when I look at my charge card it still says shipping charge but the 14.95 pending for service went away. Should get it up and going tomorow will follow up. I just had a very bad expieriance with H20 prepaid. Stay far away from that company!
