Alabama, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, West Virginia and the District of Columbia will be seeing the TracFone's extension of the SafeLink Lifeline Program. TracFone announced today that the SafeLink service, which offers no-cost or low-cost cellular service to qualifying families, will now reach an additional 1.9 million low-income households. A free cell phone, mobile access to emergency numbers and free 68 minutes of airtime for one year will be available to those who qualify.

This is a great plan for people who need cell phones, but cannot afford them. I am a low income college student who has been looking for a prepaid company that could provide me with quality for a good price. Tracfone is doing this through Safelink...and I love it!

It's pretty cool, my dad got it. The phone they give out is nice. Can't say I like Tracfone, but, this is good.

I thought they gave out more minutes than that though? He gets a refill every month of x amount of minutes even if he doesn't use them as far as I understand. I'm quite jealous.
