My girlfriend received a letter from both Bell and Rogers saying that she had a massive unpaid balance that was going to go to collections if it wasn't paid off. She had never had phones with either company before but her ex boyfriend had and they had a rough break up so she figured he was trying to mess with her. She confronted him about but he claimed he knew nothing. The phones were attached to address's that were not hers but they were purchased and connected using her social insurance number(which he had access to). She tried talking to both companies but they would not believe her so she decided to start paying off the bills so she didn't wreck her credit. I am just finding out about this now, a year later and I am wondering what action can be taken to stop her payments. She still owes several thousand dollars between the two companies.
