Hi. My mother just purchased a new Net10 phone but she really does not like it. The call quality is not very good.

So, I decided to see if I could get her a Google G1 (I know the phone is older, but she doesn't need or want a new $200 smartphone with the hefty price tag. And I was wondering, since some others got the iPhone to work on Tracfone if it was possible to get a G1 and modify it (or the SIM, whatever needs to be done) to get it to run on the Tracfone network. There is no need for 3G speeds or anything.

    Thanks in advance,
    Payton

Not Tracfone, per se, but Net 10 now has a "bring your own" program where you buy a SIM from them and use it in an AT&T, T-Mobile, or unlocked phone. You have to go for their $50.00/mo unlimited everything plan. Net 10 is a Tracfone service, and doing this keeps you from risking bricking the phone.

Like the member above mentioned, you can now bring your own phone to Net10, and also Straight Talk, both of which are owned by Tracfone. You can use almost any GSM phone on these services.
