I am getting anonymous texts, can anyone tell me how?

lately i have been receiving anonymous text messages from an individual. They are detailed messages about me so i know its not spam or anything like that. In the line for who its from it says " anonymous@t" thats all I can see. I know there is something after the t but my old phone just does not show that much information. Can anyone tell me how this person is doing this or where from. The messages are not harassing or bad but I'm just lost as to how this can be done, I havent been able to find out anything online that actually works. I tried a few websited that claim that by entering the phone number you want to send the message to and the message it will send it anonymous, i entered my number and a short message but it never went through. Can anyone help me?

It sounds like they are sending from e-mail (to your phone's txt e-mail address) with a spoofed header.

How do they know what my phones text email address is? Maybe you can tell me what it is. I am using verizon but i dont have a smartphone.

Well i found out that if you log into your email and send a message to my phone's email which is the number @ vtext.com it comes up as showing my email address as the sender. I tryed this and it works but its not what they are doing. The texts im getting are coming from an address of "anonymous@t" i know there is something after the T but i just cant see it. Is there an app that will allow you to send these kind of texts

The messages are sent from a website. Here is an example where you enter your own return address:

If the sender does not want a reply, anything can be entered for the email address. The email address is not verified by the website. The sender has to know your phone number and carrier. The website enters the equivalent email gateway address for that carrier. Forward one of the messages to your email address. The original headers might be visible.

There are also anonymizer sites which will strip out email addresses and headers and replace them with artificial information. Look for some obscure detail in one of the messages and try to remember to whom you revealed that information.
