Hi,
I want to buy or rent a cell phone for the following purpose:
- I live in the area code 450 (Montreal - Quebec) and I'm gonna work in the area code 807 (Thunder Bay - Ontario);
- I would prefer to have a cell phone with area code 450 so my family can contact me without doing any long distance call;
- That is going to be used mostly to receive incoming calls and for emergencies or very important matters
- Social networks, music, video; I'll leave that to others.
Based on this what do you suggest I purchase (phone type, plan, provider company, etc) So easy to get lost :-)
thanks!

Re: what service to buy?
It seems like a prepaid plan would work well for you since you probably don't need a data plan (internet) on your phone. Petro, Virgin Mobile, and Bell all offer prepaid service. I would check their coverage maps to make sure that they offer service in your area.
For the phone, I would stick with something very basic. Maybe a flip phone.
