Just found out about Lycamobile and they seem interesting. They are one of Europes top MVNO and they have now launched in the US. They are sending a free SIM if you request in their site and their pay as you go plans are the cheapest I've seen so far. Check them out here, lycamobile.us/en/

Their plans seem reasonably priced. I like their $29 plan, because it looks like it offers unlimited talk, text, and data. The data seems to be throttled after the first 100 MB, but if it's unlimited that's not a bad deal.

Yeah, they have the best price I've seen so far. What I like is their unlimited talk and text for $19. I don't need data because I have WiFi at home.

For those looking for just unlimited talk (you can text using Google Voice over WiFi), Voyager Mobile offers it for $17 per month.

It's just $2 more with Lyca Mobile for the text messaging, and it's probably worth that for most people that leave WiFi from time to time. Also, with Lyca Mobile it looks like you can use your own GSM phone, and with Voyager Mobile you can't bring a GSM phone. I'm not sure if they allow you to bring you own Sprint phone or not yet.

jayzor, are you a Lyca Mobile customer?

I'm with ST. I'll give lyca a try when my free sim arrive. I also found out that their $19 plan is only valid through April 30. Too bad, but their pay as you go plan is still good. Here's the link http://www.lycamobile.us/en/national-plans-Ts-and-Cs

I just found that out not to long ago also! Do you think they're going to allow the people that are on their $19 plan to keep it, or are they going to raise the price all of a sudden?

I'm not sure. Hope they will. $19 for unli call and text is too good. It's confusing because they advertise in this page that their only promotion is the free international call, but you can see here that the prices for their plans are also promotional.

I think they launched too soon. They should have had somebody go over the website to check for errors, and made it more clear that it is a promotional offer. Otherwise, people might start demanding that they keep their rate plan and the company will want to raise their rates.

I mentioned Voyager Mobile in a previous post, and after additional research, I'd like to mention that Voyager Mobile seems to have a lot of fees, both one time, and monthly, such as an activation fee, and various monthly fees and taxes.

For those who want unlimited talk, it's probably worth the $2 more to go with Lyca Mobile instead. That $2 more on the monthly plan will probably end up being cheaper if you factor in all of the taxes and fees with Voyager Mobile.

Lyca Mobile's pay as you go plan is reasonable, at 2 cents per minute, 4 cents per text, and 6 cents per MB of data, although I think they could do better.

Ptel, another T-Mobile MVNO (an MVNO stands for Mobile Virtual Network Operator, which is a company that uses a carrier's network. In this case, Ptel is an MVNO, using T-Mobile's network), charges just 2 cents per text, half of what Lyca Mobile charges. Ting, a Sprint MVNO, charges as low as 2.25 cents per MB. Therefore, I think Lyca Mobile's rates for text messaging and data are a little high. It is still a decent deal for users that just talk or for people that don't use their phone much.

For example, for someone who needs to use 250 minutes per month, the cost is just $5 per month.

If you have experience with Lyca Mobile, please post about it here.
