Re: google phone applications
I wouldnt even worry what comes on the phone out of the box. There are so many apps out there, it's ridiculous. Some good, some crap, but their out there. There are apps all over the internet. I went from a Wing to my G1 when it first came out and haven't looked back. Having an open source phone is great.

google phone applications
It's an open OS. meaning, you could deploy and even develop applications easily.
Unlike the Iphone...All proprietary from Apple.

I'm sure by now you've found Cyrket - the personal site that is the Google Market search page - www dot cyrket dot com - but if a newbie wanted to know what exactly was out there for Android, I'd send them there to look. (Note: I use it at work daily to keep up.)

Re: google phone applications
There's a nice free app for syncing mac and android - SyncMate. There are a lot of syncing features, though at present you can only sync few things, calendar or contacts, for example, but it's quite reliable. The syncing is done via Google, but what attracts me, is that I do not have to pay for the few features I need.
