Nextel/Boost phones generally don't have the battery life of a
GSM or
CDMA phone. My roommate has an i450 and more or less has to charge it daily, especially if he goes into an area with poor or no reception, which drains the battery even more because the phone has to work harder to keep/find a signal. If you use the 2-way radio function, it uses a bit more battery power as well.
There's probably more to it than that, but that's what I know from my roommate's phone, which I got him as a "getting divorced" gift.
I speculate that Nextel phones use a lot more power to transmit a strong signal, which is why they make my tv and speakers click and hum 2 seconds before they start ringing. That doesn't generally happen with Cingular or Sprint in my experience, but I always know when the i450 is gonna ring.
